Twyla felt as though she was walking on air. And for a person who could actually walk on air, that was saying something. She hummed a soft tune as she made her way down the hallway. Sean and Whit were right behind her, following her after she’d left the kitchen.

She’d made the right decision. It had seemed the only course of action at the time, and she’d been afraid to make the final leap toward her future, but now she was certain she’d done the right thing.

She stopped at the entry to the first bedroom, pausing to take in the room. It wasn’t fancy, but to Sean’s credit, the room wasn’t messy, either. The bed was made and the carpet clean. A white crocheted bedspread covered the bed with two mismatched nightstands on either side. The bases of the lamps matched, but the shades were different. Still, the room looked inviting. For a moment, she gave herself the luxury of imagining them in the bed with her.

Thank goodness, it’s a big bed.

She turned to the men standing behind her. “This is so nice. Thank you.”

“You can stop thanking us, sugar,” said Sean. “We’re happy to help. Oh, yeah, and I changed the sheets.” He put a hand at the small of her back and eased her into the room. “And there are fresh towels in the bathroom.”

“It’s no trouble at all. Right, Sean?” Whit strode over to the old six-drawer dresser where two empty drawers were still pulled out. “I was going to ask if two drawers would be enough, but since you don’t have anything with you…” He shrugged.

“You left without any clothes?”

“I did. But it’s okay. I’ll figure it out.”

If she’d known Misa was going to spring her from her bedroom captivity, she would’ve packed a bag. As it was, she’d have to make do. Or hope Misa could sneak her some clothes on the sly.

“We could call Lilly and ask her to bring some things out.”

She smiled at Sean in way of a thank-you. “That would be great. But she shouldn’t bring too much.”

Both Whit and Sean seemed disappointed.

“Because you don’t plan on staying long?” asked Whit with such sadness that she almost pulled him against her for a comforting hug.

“No. I just don’t want you guys going to any trouble. Or Lilly. Plus, I don’t have any money with me and I already owe her for a dress.” She felt foolish for her lack of planning. Not that fairies had an economy based on currency or credit cards or anything humans and shifters used. They’d long ago found no value in money. Instead, their economy survived quite well on a bartering system. Plus, if
